Foundations of Effective Parenting e-Course
This course is about developing parenting practices that guide your child's healthy development and provide opportunities for learning and growth. The course is about building a strong attachment and connection with your child as well as developing skills that encourage appropriate behaviour and help you resolve parent-child conflicts.

This course will discuss the destructive forces that lead to communication breakdown. You will learn the building blocks of constructive conflict resolution as well as strategies to de-escalate conflict and reduce emotional upset.

Taking Control of Your Money e-Course
Taking Control of Your Money is an e-course offered by the University's Employee and Family Assistance Program (EFAP) provider. The course helps you assess your current situation, develop a budget, and create strategies to improve your financial health. Courses are offered online, are self-paced and self-directed, and can be accessed by faculty and staff members and their eligible dependants.
Web-based courses are self-paced, interactive and available in both English and French. You will need to visit Homeweb to register.
Financial Planning or How to Get Rich Slowly (for those in their 20's and early 30's)
This 50-minute Lunch and Learn session is intended to create awareness around financial planning. A discussion of net worth, cash flow, goals, savings, and investments to help you answer the questions - where am I now, where do I want to be, and how do I get there?
Financial Planning for Retirement or How Soon Can I Retire? (for those in their late 30's to early 50's)
This two-part Lunch and Learn will reinforce the importance of planning now for retirement. In addition to a more in-depth discussion around where you are and where you want to be, sources of income in retirement, how much more you need to accumulate, and how to make up any shortfall will be discussed.
How to Prepare Emotionally and Financially for Retirement (for those 50+ or five to ten years from retirement)
This one day workshop will cover sources of income in retirement, how to make up the difference if there is a shortfall, how to take money from RRSPS and TFSAs, and how to create income from investments. In addition, preparing emotionally for this new and different life stage will be addressed.
Pension Information Seminars (for those preparing to retire)
Two-hour information sessions to learn about your Universities Academic Pension Plan (UAPP) or Public Service Pension Plan (PSPP), presented by the pension plan providers.
Estate Planning
This extended lunch and learn is meant for all employees, regardless of age. It will provide some of the basic estate planning knowledge needed in the event of death or disability.
