Consent Week: Defining a Culture of Consent

Ready to be part of something meaningful? Consent Week is five days of creative exploration, real conversations and community building that will change how you think about relationships, boundaries and respect.

Organized by the University of Alberta's Sexual Assault Centre, Consent Week is about building the kind of campus culture where everyone feels safe, respected and heard. Whether you're looking to deepen your understanding, connect with university resources or simply engage in meaningful conversations with peers, there's something here for you.

What's Happening?

Sept. 22-26 | University of Alberta

Resource fair

Explore interactive booths from university and community partners, helpful resources and activities that make learning about consent empowering and accessible. Contribute to our Interactive Board at the Resource Fair—write, draw, or share what consent means to you and help create a community vision of respect and boundaries.

Get creative

Drop into our Consent Collage sessions where you'll create visual art that explores what consent means to you. No art experience needed—just bring your curiosity! It's also a perfect sensory-friendly space to unwind and practice self-care.

Movie night

Join us for "Reel Talk" featuring The Notebook. We'll watch, discuss, and unpack how romantic movies sometimes normalize boundary-crossing behaviors.

Consent trivia

Spin the wheel at our Consent Trivia table. Answer questions, win swag and learn something new.

Real stories

Hear from sexual assault survivor David Ponich as he shares his honest perspective on navigating the criminal justice system. Available both in-person and online.

Workshop: Working for Change

In this workshop, participants will engage in an open discussion about sexual violence prevention and consent. Together, we will learn about important definitions, break down common myths and misconceptions, learn how to support survivors of sexual violence, and talk about ways we can work towards prevention in our everyday lives.
