Course Title: BIOL 495/595 -B1: Astrobiology

INSTRUCTOR: Dr. Brian Lanoil/Dr. Chris Herd

DESCRIPTION: This course is aimed at students with a background in microbiology, ecology, and/or earth sciences. It will feature lectures, readings, and discussions and will be assessed based on short papers or presentations, a final project, and engagment in discussions.

Course Title: BIOL 633: Meta-analysis for life science ( 1 credit/ no grade)

INSTRUCTOR: Dr. Shinichi Nakagawa

DESCRIPTION: This 3-day intensive course teaches both basic and advanced techniques for systematic reviews and meta-analysis. The course will be a mix of lectures and hands-on practicals, including actually conducting a systematic review and meta-analysis. Not only will students learn how to use these useful synthesis methods, but we also aim to complete a meta-analysis (a systematic review) together for publication through this course. 

Enrolment in this course is limited; prior exposure to statistical & experimental design courses is a prerequisite.
