Psychiatry services

Psychiatry Services provide access to psychiatrists—medical doctors specializing in mental health—who assess, diagnose, and prescribe medication for students with more complex mental health concerns. Psychiatrists focus on assessment, short-term treatment, and stabilization, and then transition students back to their referring physician for ongoing follow-up and maintenance care.

What to Expect

Psychiatry Services are offered on a limited basis and require a physician referral. Due to high demand, wait times may be 4-12 weeks. The service focuses on assessment, diagnosis, medication management, and short-term stabilization, with ongoing care transferred back to the referring physician.
Appointments are reliable once scheduled; however, missed or late-cancelled appointments result in fees and loss of waitlist priority. Students are expected to attend appointments, provide 24 hours’ notice for cancellations, and participate in follow-up care with their physician.
