Individual therapy (short term)
Short-Term Individual Therapy provides ongoing, goal-focused counselling for University of Alberta students seeking support for mental health concerns. Following an initial consultation, students may be referred to short-term therapy delivered by psychologists or supervised student clinicians.
Therapy focuses on managing current challenges, building coping strategies, and working collaboratively toward personal goals. Sessions are typically 50 minutes and scheduled approximately every two weeks within a limited timeframe. Services are free, confidential, and available in person or virtually. Students requiring long-term or weekly therapy are supported through referrals to appropriate on- or off-campus resources.
CCS services are in high demand, with requests for service out pacing capacity, so students can expect referrals to community counselling will be provided when internal capacity is limited. It can take multiple attempts to book an IC.
