Elko Engineering Garage (makerspace)

The Elko Engineering Garage is a makerspace available to all U of A students and staff. It exists to facilitate safe, hands-on learning experiences through access to tools, training, and equipment for learners and makers, by providing training services, troubleshooting support, and fabrication resources.

Service Offerings

  • 2D fabrication (laser cutter, waterjet cutter)
  • 3D printing
  • Design (3D scanner, microscope, computers)
  • Electronics (PCB mill, soldering iron, testing devices)
  • Finishing (power sanders, vented spray booth)
  • Metalworking (CNC mills, cold cut saw, drilling/milling machine, CNC lathe)
  • Plastic fabrication (injection molder, vacuum former)
  • Textiles tools/machines
  • Woodworking tools/machines
  • Toolbox rentals
  • Materials store

How to Access

1. Self-enroll into the Canvas course and complete the online orientation.
2. Review the Training Registration Policy.
3. Register for training for the tools you want to use.
4. Once trained on a piece of equipment, you can schedule time on it up to 14 days in advance.
