Center for Writers
1-42 Assiniboia Hall 780.492.2639 centreforwriters@ualberta.ca The Centre for Writers offers free one-on-one and group writing support to all University of Alberta students – in any program or faculty, and at any level of study. The C4W employs several graduate-level students from across campus who have received training in both the theory and practice of peer tutoring. Our consultants can assist graduate students with essays, scientific reports, technical writing, creative writing, thesis and dissertation drafts, academic articles and journal submissions, grant and scholarship application letters, cover letters – and more. We recommend visiting the C4W at all stages of the writing process, from initial drafting and research to final revisions. Students can book appointments online from any computer at any time at www.c4w.arts.ualberta.ca. Each appointment is 30 minutes, and each student is allowed two appointments per week. Students are also welcome to drop by the C4W office to consult our style manuals, dictionaries, ESL/EAL resources, writing handbooks and discipline-specific writing guides. In addition, the Resources page of our website features handouts, presentations and links to useful online reference materials and publications. Graduate Student Teachers and Teaching Assistants can contact the Centre for Writers to arrange for a classroom visit. These visits range from a short information session for students on the Centre for Writers’ services to a more specialized workshop in an area such as essay writing, a specific citation style, or utilizing referencing software programs. For more information, visit www.c4w.arts.ualberta.ca. -
