  • Bill 7

    Bill 7 Information Sessions

As you might know and as we have previously communicated to you, in April the government approved Bill 7, which introduced changes to the Labour Relations Code and the Post-Secondary Learning Act. These changes affect the GSA in its role of negotiating the Graduate Student Assistantship Collective Agreement. Bill 7 can be found in full here.

Over the past months, the GSA has been engaged in discussion with the government and the GSA's lawyers to gain a better understanding of these changes. To inform graduate students on Bill 7, the GSA has planned two information sessions to review the changes implemented by Bill 7 and to provide an overview of issues related to the Collective Agreement negotiations.

Two information sessions have been scheduled: July 11, 2017 at 10 AM and July 24, 2017 at 1 PM. Both sessions will be held in 1-31 Triffo Hall. Please RSVP here if you would like to attend one of these sessions. RSVPs are appreciated but not required.

  • Peer Program

International Student Services Peer Program Seeks Graduate Student Volunteers

Did you know that you can make lasting connections and gain valuable leadership experience by volunteering with the Peer Program?

The Peer Program matches graduate/undergraduate student volunteers (Senior Peers) with new international students, forming a mentorship relationship that continues throughout the year.

Senior Peers are matched with students who share common characteristics. Factors such as level of study, faculty/department, and common interests are considered when matching students. Senior Peer students gain student leadership, event planning, and intercultural communication competencies.

    Apply now by clicking here.

If you have any questions about the Peer Program, please email: issint4@ualberta.ca.
